Covering

Standing seam steel

A low-pitched steel roof that leaked only in driving rain. The survey traced it to three skylights and a flat entry roof that held water.

A standing seam roof should outlast its owner. This one was fourteen years old and leaking into the hall whenever the rain came from the east.

What the flight showed

The steel was sound. Three skylights had been bedded in sealant that had since let go, and the flat roof over the entry held a pool an inch deep around a blocked drain.

What we did

New flashing kits on all three skylights, two loose clips refixed on the east wing, and a new membrane on the entry roof with the drain lowered half an inch.
