A hipped roof with nine planes and a chimney that had been patched three times. We stripped it to the deck, replaced fourteen boards and relaid it in five days.
The owners had been told twice that the roof had ten years left. From the ground it looked that way. From 125 ft the south slope told a different story.
What the flight showed
Fourteen lifted shingles and two missing on the south slope, a ridge whose nails had backed out along its whole length, and a chimney whose flashing had been sealed over three times instead of replaced.
What we did
A full strip to the deck. Fourteen boards came out with the old shingles. The chimney got new step flashing and a cricket behind it, and the entry valley was relaid in open metal.
